Obituary for Bobby “Booter” Lewis Carpenter
Bobby Lewis Carpenter of Lake Kiowa, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on November 22, 1936, in McKinney, Texas, to Marion “Bud” Carpenter and Gracie (Gibbs) Carpenter.
Booter spent his early childhood with his beloved family, creating lasting memories, many of which were spent making the family’s famous Carpenter’s hot tamales. This cherished tradition continued throughout his life, and Booter enjoyed sharing tamales with friends and family, especially during the holidays. He had fond memories of spending time with his loved ones and often reminisced about the days spent in McKinney’s town square with his friends.
Booter graduated from McKinney High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army, based in Chalons, France. After his service, he began a remarkable 42-year career with State Farm Insurance.
On February 23, 1974, Booter married the love of his life, Peggy Jenkins Carpenter. They shared more than 50 years together, building a life filled with love and laughter.
Booter is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Jenkins Carpenter of Lake Kiowa, Texas; daughter, Anita Arthur and her husband, Doug, of Highland Village, Texas; son, Randell Hendricks of Denison, Texas; daughter, Julie Jones and her husband, Darrell, of Trenton, Texas; grandchildren, Samantha, Gracie, Mica, Clay, Lacey, and Megan; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Della Jo Courtney; brother, JC Carpenter; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Gracie Carpenter, and his siblings: Nathan Carpenter, Henry Carpenter, Mildred Roberts, Helen Hickson, Myrtle Rogers, Roy Carpenter, and Frances Barefield.
Bobby will always be remembered for his love of life, his quick wit, and his contagious laugh and smile. He had an uncanny ability to brighten a room with his humor and warmth. Those who knew him will forever cherish the joy and kindness he shared. He was truly one of a kind.
