Clara Marie Smith, 85, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Cottonwood Nursing Home and Rehab in Denton, TX. There will be a remembrance gathering on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Clara was born on August 7, 1936, in Livingston, Montana to Leo and Ethel Briggs. She was a homemaker and loved her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Clara loved to read romance novels and enjoyed her coloring books. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses.
She is survived by her son Barry and wife Elizabeth Turner of Valley View, TX; daughter Brenda Daughtry and husband Charles Smith of Gainesville, TX; stepson Bobby and wife Charlotte Turner of Krum, TX; Clara is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Ethel Briggs; daughter Betty Turner; sons Donald Leo and Gary Lee; one brother Wayne Briggs.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX.
