Fred James Webb, 80, of Gainesville, Texas was called to his eternal home on Saturday, August 8, 2020.
Fred was born on September 13, 1939 in Snyder, Texas to Gray Orr Webb Jr. and Mary Alice Simpson Webb. He married Shirley Tolbert on June 22, 1973 in Denton, Texa and they were married for 36 years, prior to her passing. Fred was a retired ranch manager and a probation officer for Cooke County. He trained horses and loved sports, especially the PBR. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Tech and his Master’s Degree from Sul Ross State University.
He is survived by his daughter, Gala Godsey and husband, Johnny Lee of Collinsville; son, Brand Webb and wife, Donnee of Salado; grandchildren, Luke and Jake Godsey; and Preslee and Kirbee Webb; sisters, Nancy Webb, Patty McDonnell and husband, Greg; and brother, Ben Webb and wife, Linda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Webb and his parents, Gray and Mary Alice Webb.
Memorial services honoring Fred will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney. No formal visitation is scheduled.

Fred was a good guy. He and my brother, Joe Siegmund, helped my kids out a lot when Fred was running Burrell Ranches. We liked those Santa Gertrudis cattle. I guess I lost track of Fred over the years.

Got to know Fred in recent years and really loved his company. Fred was great to listen to and hear about his accomplishments and travels around the world. I will really miss having Fred show and meet at dance night.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Fred will always hold a very special place in my heart. He was a wonderful friend to my dad as well as myself. In fact, a life long family friend for as far back as I can remember. I have many fond memories of learning to ride horses with Fred as my coach. My deepest sympathy from my family to yours.

Just learned that Fred died. He was a good honest man. He was a very intelligent man with great wit and sense of humor. A fine horseman and a friend. He taught me a lot about horses and was always willing to help.
He will be missed.
