December 30, 1921 –  October 7, 2016  Funeral Services for Nelda Sanders, 94, of Whitesboro, will be held Monday, October 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 9th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the chapel. She passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at Plano Life Center, Plano, Texas, with her family by her side. She was born on December 30, 1921, in Whitesboro, Texas to John and Emily (Scott) McDonnell. She married John Thomas Sanders, Jr. on October 12, 1940. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2014. Nelda loved her family and enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and spoiling her kids and grandkids. She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nelda took a lot of pride in her home and the family farm. She helped her late husband farm for many years. She and John were married for 73 years before his death. She was a long time member of Dixie Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons; John Sanders and wife, Sandra of Plano, Jerry Sanders and his wife, Vivian of Palestine and daughter, Donna Harris and husband, John of Wylie; grandchildren, Lisa Stratta, Jessica Arrington, Brian Harris, and Laura Garza; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Logan, Calvin Arrington; Joseph, Charles, and Madeline Stratta; Grabiel Garza, Maxx and Abby Harris and other extended family members.

Pallbearers will be Rick Wade, J.W. Bolin, Tommy Gene Foster, Chris Stratta, Ramiro Garza and Jason Arrington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily McDonnell; husband, John Thomas Sanders, Jr. and siblings, J.W. McDonnell, Jr., Charles Hughes, Toni Martin, Ruby Harris and Perry McDonnell.
