February 25, 1929 – October 22, 2017 LAKE KIOWA-Funeral services for Henry John “Hank” Marek, 88, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 27, 2017 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. J. Ray Smith. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Family visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. one hour prior to the funeral services at the funeral home. Hank passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas with his family by his side.
Henry John “Hank” was born on February 25, 1929 in Mt. Calm, Texas to John Vincent and Mary (Karlik) Marek. He attended Penelope High School and joined the U.S Marine Corp after graduation. After 4 years he went into Engineering with Northrop Aircraft in California and married his wife, Barbara “Dolly” Turner on April 20, 1951 in Pasadena, California. They had three girls, Marcy Marek Titus, Charlotte Marek Gambill and Mary Marek. They raised the girls in Aspen, Colorado where they owned and operated Aspen TV & Appliances.
In 1972 they bought and operated Big Mineral Camp on Lake Texoma until retiring in 1984 and moved to Lake Kiowa.
Survivors include wife, Dolly Marek of Lake Kiowa; 3 daughters, Marcy Titus and husband, Jay, Charlotte Gambill and husband, Chuck and Mary Marek; grandchildren, Christy Price, Lisha and husband, Lee Walston, Shelley and husband, Josh Waller and Mike Gambill and wife, Christy; eleven great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be; Josh Waller, Michael Gambill, Johnathan Contreras, Anthony Contreras, Darren Marek and Lee Walston.
Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Contreras and Danny Waller.
