Joy Elaine Rawle, 83, of Celeste, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville, Texas.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Legacy Pointe Central Baptist Church in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Internment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, Texas.
Mrs. Rawle was born December 1, 1934 in Seminole County, Oklahoma before moving to Bridgeport, Texas where she was raised and attended school. She was the first child of Velpeau Rutherford and Pauline Ford Rutherford. On January 28, 1955, she married her sweetheart, Jerry Elton Rawle of Decatur, Texas. Joy was a homemaker and an experienced seamstress, sewing for the public for many years. After her daughters were grown she became an employee of Boy Scouts of America in Las Colinas, Texas where she retired after 18 years of dedicated service. Jerry and Joy lived many years in Grapevine, Texas where they were faithful members of Bethel Baptist Church for over 30 years before retiring to live at Lake Texoma.
She is survived by her daughters, Faith Patrick and husband, Douglas, of Haltom City, and Angela Wilson and husband, James, of Celeste; grandchildren, Glenna Patrick, Jerri Watts and husband, Michael, Stephen Wilson and wife, Jeri, David Wilson and his wife, Bethany, and Paul Patrick; great-grandchildren, Mimi Watts, Walker Wilson and Timothy Wilson and several nephew and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Rawle, her daughter, Sherrie Lee Rawle, her parents, Velpeau and Pauline Rutherford, and her brother, Larry Rutherford.
