July 8, 1937 –  January 23, 2014  Funeral services for James Weldon Dean, 76, will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 27th at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hubert Wright and Pastor Tom Patzer officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home.

Weldon passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his residence in Gainesville. He was born July 8, 1937 in Cooke County to James Herschel and Iva Jane (Durham) Dean. Mr. Dean was a US Navy veteran. He had worked for Bell Helicopter until his retirement.

Survivors of James Weldon Dean include his wife, Mary Grace Dean of Gainesville; nieces, Vicky Hildebrand of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Janna Vitiello of El Paso, Judy Bengfort of Gainesville and Patricia Haverkamp of Gainesville and six great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eva Jane Haverkamp.
