On January 16, 2025, Betty Burrow Armel went home to be with the Lord, and with the love of her life, Byrl. Betty was born on September 30, 1927, to John and Mary Eva Burrow in Valley View, Texas. Betty had eight sisters and was the second oldest of them. Betty attended Gainesville ISD and in 1945 met her precious husband, Byrl. On May 19, 1945 they exchanged vows in Marietta, OK and started their life together. In 1947, they welcomed their first child, Etta Arlina. In 1950, they welcomed another daughter, LaPage Ann. Then in 1952, they welcomed their last child, a son named Byrl Edward, who went by Butch. Their family was complete. Betty and Byrl purchased a farm in Woodbine, TX where they raised their family along with cows, chickens, horses, and pigs. She enjoyed taking care of her family and her animals, along with a large garden. As a housewife, she made sure everyone was fed, clothed, and loved more than words. God was the biggest part of her life and family. She lived her life according to his word and strived to be a very devout Christian woman. In 1979, Byrl and Betty purchased a property in Krum, TX, and built the home of their dreams and spent the remainder of their lives in this home. Eventually, their son and daughter built homes on each side of them, providing a safe place for their grandchildren to visit and enjoy their childhoods. Betty worked jobs at the skating rink, Bomber Bait, Boeing, Montgomery Ward and was a Sunday school teacher. Betty enjoyed quilting with her mom and aunt, gardening, making Easter baskets, but above all else, hosting garage sales.
Betty is survived by her daughter Etta, son-in-law Bill Morris of Denton, TX; daughter Page and son-in-law Gary Sampley of Krum, TX, eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Byrl Armel, and her son Butch Armel and his wife Connie Armel, her parents, and eight sisters.
