Barbara Sue Looney Lutes, 84, of Lake Kiowa, TX passed away on December 28, 2024, at her residence with her family. Memorial services will be held on January 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Bro. Mike Flanagan officiating.
Barbara was born on August 18, 1940, to Marvin and Thelma Looney in Itasca, Texas. She married Marvin Lutes on November 30, 1957, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro. She was a hairdresser for 7 years until she decided to pursue a career in nursing. Barbara worked at the Arlington Memorial Hospital assisting Dr. Brown in the surgery unit for many years. After retirement from being a nurse she owned a clothing store with her best friend of 40 years, Mary Stites called the Special Lady. Among other things Barabara loved to do was quilt, craft and making things She loved to cook and fixing her families favorite meals. Barbara loved to travel and loved being a travel guide. She loved people and always made everyone feel at home and she was the glue that kept her family together.
She is survived by her daughters Cheryll Ann Thompson and husband Dick, Melinda Kay Lutes; grandchildren Steven Ray Fowler, Kayla Michelle Chaffin, Travis Michael Roach and Isabel Gamboa; great-grandchildren Savannah Ray Fowler, Riley Elizabeth Fowler and Braxton Chaffin.
Barbabra is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Wallace Lutes; parents Marvin Leander and Mary Thelma Looney; sister Elizabeth Ann Looney Wood.
I am so saddened to hear that Sue has passed. I have so many sweet childhood memories of you all. I am thinking of you all, and sending prayers.
