Funeral services for Esther Marie Dillman, 89, will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Dr. Roy Spore officiating. She died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Pecan Point Memory Care, Sherman, Texas. Interment will be Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Hesston City Cemetery, Hesston, Kansas. Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro is in charge of arrangements.
Esther Marie was born June 25, 1924, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Charles Ray Hays and Lois Gray Hays. She married Neal Baer Dillman, May 25, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas. They moved to Kermit, Texas, in 1949 where she gave birth to their three children. The family moved to Muleshoe, Texas, in 1960 where she served as librarian for the Muleshoe ISD until her retirement. In 1990, she and her husband moved to Whitesboro to be closer to their grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Churches of Muleshoe, Whitesboro and Sherman and served on the board of the Whitesboro Public Library.
She was a 1942 graduate of Parker High School, Parker, Colorado; earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1946 from Friends University, Wichita, Kansas, and a Master of Library Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.
Esther Marie is survived by her two sons, David Dillman of Sherman and Mark Dillman and wife, Lisa, of Corsicana, Texas; brother, Charles Ray Hays, Jr. and wife, Lois, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Cassie Dillman of Tallahassee, Florida, and grandsons, Andrew Dillman and Ryan Dillman of Corsicana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ray Hays and Lois Gray Hays; husband of 52 years, Neal Baer Dillman, and daughter, Maribeth Dillman.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the caregivers at Pecan Point Memory Care and Guardian Healthcare of Sherman for their devotion and support.
