Larry Alvin Winter, 54 of Whitesboro, Texas went to be with his Lord on May 13, 2024.
Larry was born on July 12, 1969 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Alvin and Thelma Winter. He was baptized on August 3, 1969 at St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden, Iowa and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church of Gainesville on May 22, 1983 where he and his family are members . Moving to Whitesboro in his teens, the coaches immediately noticed his size and recruited him to play football. This began his love for football. Larry often spoke of how much he enjoyed a good tackle, his love for football carried on and he watched football as often as possible. After graduating from Whitesboro High in 1987 he worked various jobs throughout the years. The jobs included working as a Private Investigator and Master Electrician, working at Foxworth/Galbraith and Cooke County Sherriff’s office. Larry began his career at Cooke County Sheriff’s office as a jail administrator and continued to work through the ranks, serving under multiple Sheriffs until he reached the highest honor of Chief-Jail Administrator. In December 2023, Larry received his 30-year service award.
Larry was a great guy, much loved by his family, friends, and his community. He is gone way too soon and will be greatly missed by all. Larry enjoyed spending his off time with family and friends and spoiling his daughter and wife.
