Jerry Carol Acker of Whitesboro, Texas was called to his eternal home on December 18, 2024 at the Pecan Tree Rehab and Healthcare Center in Gainesville, Texas. Jerry was born on May 6, 1940 to Milton and Jane Acker in Whitesboro, Texas at the Greer Clinic.
Jerry graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1958 and later built a long, successful career at Anderson, Clayton and Company (later purchased by Quaker Oats and Kraft Foods) in Sherman, Texas.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Grant, and son-in-law Tony Grant of Oxford, Mississippi; brother, Bobby Acker and sister-in-law Cheryl Acker of Whitesboro; and sister, Dianne Hughes of Bryan, Texas. Jerry is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses including Kathy Grant Maples and her husband Blake of Oxford, Mississippi, Jenna Grant Jackson and her husband David of Oxford, Mississippi, Jared Acker Grant and his wife Jordan of Senatobia, Mississippi and Kimmie Thornell and her husband Billy of Sadler, Texas. Additional family include seven great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Jane Acker, infant sons Jerry Jr. and John Milton Acker, and daughter Rhonda Acker Morris.
Jerry was an ardent Whitesboro Bearcat fan and made every effort possible to attend sporting events with his long-time friends, rarely missing a game. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Texoma with friends and family, and he spent much of his time in retirement at the golf course.
