Zona Harmon, 78, of Collinsville, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2025.
Born on November 8, 1946, In McAlester, Oklahoma, Zona was the daughter of L.T. and Mabel Patton. Zona graduated from Savanna High School and later built a fulfilling career in education, retiring from Anna High School. Her dedication to her work and the lives she touched through it left a lasting impression on those around her. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville, Zona found strength and community in her faith. She was known for her unwavering generosity – always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need – and for the deep love she held for her family and friends.
Zona’s life was centered around those she loved most. She was a proud mother to Joe Harmon and Pamela Ressmann and her husband, Kirk; a cherished grandmother to Janice Brinlee and her husband, Chris, Jessica Howard and her husband, Ross, Jon Howard and his wife, Emily; and a beloved great-grandmother to Adalynn, Brooklynn, and Ada. Her home was often filled with laughter during card games or board games played with family – a tradition she treasured deeply. She also found joy in cheering on her favorite teams – the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers – although she never missed an opportunity to root for any sports game with enthusiasm.
Zona was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Harmon, her brother, Jan Patton, sister, Wanda Shiew; and her parents L.T. and Mabel Patton.
Her warmth, kindness, and spirited presence will be missed by all how knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
I had the pleasure and honor to know and care for Zona. She was always gracious. She was always there when we were kids to lend a hand or a word of advice. I’m glad that she and Coach are back together. I’m sorry for her kids to be without her way too soon. A good and inspiring fight. I’m going to miss her❤️
My dear cousin. There aren’t many of us left.
So grateful Richard, Joe, Patti and I were able to spend a day together with Zona in May. Special memories together we will all cherish.
My thoughts and prayer go out to Pam, Joe and their families. Zona was a sweet lady and her smile lit up a room.
So sorry, prayers for Joe, Pam and entire family. Zona and Coach Harmon were so good to me and my classmates.
My prayers go out to Pam, Joe and the rest of your family. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to get up there, please know she and Roy are watching over you all and are resting high on that heavenly mountain. Love you all
Pam, Joe and all of the family are in my thoughts and prayers. Many good memories of your Mom and Dad.
Zona will be greatly missed in our Sunday School class. She was already with wise counsel. I replied on her biblical knowledge many times. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Pam, I am so sorry to hear this. I am praying for you during this time.
I love you my friend.
You know how much we love her and Roy. Good people, great friends.
Zona and I shared many cousin memories, mostly centered on Grandma Patton’s house in Kiowa, OK. In recent years we kept in touch by text and phone. I will miss keeping in touch with her but it’s a comfort to know she’s with her Lord Jesus Christ.
