December 28, 1918 –  December 24, 2009  WHITESBORO- Funeral services for Woodrow Cornelius Acker, 90, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Harold Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Monday, prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Acker passed away on December 24, 2009 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas.

Woodrow was born on December 28, 1918 in the North Texas area to Albert Lee and Carra Ann (McFerrin) Acker. He married Mildred Marlin on October 1, 1938. Woodrow served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked as a salesman for Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church in Whitesboro. Woodrow loved his family and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Acker of Whitesboro; a daughter, Sharon Short of Sherman; a sister-in-law, Gladys Acker of Whitesboro; 3 grandchildren, Darryl Short and wife, Cheryl of Sherman, Tammy Bohannan and husband, Dion of Allen and Danny Short of Sherman; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Carra Ann Acker; 5 brothers, Alvis Acker, Ernest Acker, Armond Acker, Milton Acker and J.T. Acker; and 2 sisters, Gladys Hennigan and Marie DeLisle.
