December 29, 1942 –  February 27, 2015  WHITESBORO – W.D. (Donny) Ferguson passed from this life on February 27, 2015. He was born on December 29, 1942 To Bill and Earline (Gracie) Ferguson in the Farmington community. His parents taught him at an early age the value of strong character and hard work. He benefited from that for the rest of his life. Donny graduated from Sherman High School. On April 16, 1964, he married Carol Jane Dennard. He and Carol had two sons. Shortly after the marriage, he went into the family business with his father-in-law. Donny discovered early on that he had found his place in life. Upon the retirement of his father-in-law, he took over the business: Dennard’s Farm and Ranch. Under his leadership, the personality of the business would undergo significant change. Donny had a great vision for business opportunities. He recognized a capacity for a more varied market and inventory. Over time he added a full line of western wear, expanded hardware, all types of lawn care equipment, ATV’s and household furnishings. While implementing these additions, he expanded to three locations, all of which have enjoyed success. Donny’s appreciation and value of his customers, many of which became close personal friends, was a key to his success. Donny was also active in other ventures and found great joy in his cattle but more than the business opportunities, he enjoyed working with his family in these efforts. Of all things, his focus was always his family. Holidays at the Ferguson house have always been warm events. There was always room for those who were away from their family or simply without family. Carol passed away on September 9, 1989, and his life changed. As always, he knew his direction and found the second love of his life. He married MaryAnn Miller on October 12, 1990, and they enjoyed a blended family which added two daughters. Donny was always very generous with his time and resources. He and MaryAnn were active supporters of community fundraising events and were always contributing to youth benefits. He loved people and people loved him. Wherever he went he always made new and lasting friends. If there was a good time somewhere, Donny was there. There will be many stories and memories shared among his friends. Those of us left behind share a deep sadness but we rejoice in his reunion with those who went before him.He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Ferguson, of Whitesboro; son, William Tad Ferguson, and wife, Kim, of Whitesboro; son, Tim Ferguson, and wife, Kim, of Whitesboro; step-daughter, Meredith Baur, of Arlington; step-daughter, Marcy Barker, of Whitesboro; 8 grandchildren: Zane, Ryan, Kyle, and Courtney Ferguson; Drake and Dillon Baur; Brooks and Emily Barker; Kodi and Kace Patterson; 3 great-grandchildren: Axtyn Ferguson, Ayce Nelson, and Cruse Ferguson. 2 sisters: Lynda Laws of Sherman and Sue Listvan of Denison; as well as a host of extended family and many friends.
