February 3, 1943 –  November 26, 2017  WHITESBORO – Funeral Services for William Robert “Bob” Hayes, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Adam Spore, and Dr. Roy Spore officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.Bob passed away on Sunday, November 26th at his residence in Whitesboro.
He was born on February 3, 1943 in Hamilton, Texas to Hal Rike Hayes and Elizabeth Jane (Holsonbake) Hayes. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict. He married Janette Sandridge on August 6, 1966 in Whitesboro. Bob was multi-talented. He served as band director for Whitesboro, Muenster, Callisburg, and Paradise Schools for a total of 22 years. He had also worked at Texas Instruments and L.O.F. in Sherman. Bob was also a self-employed master electrician. He was a grand tinkerer and could fix anything. Bob was devoted to his church, serving as the choir director at First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro for many years. He also loved fishing, traveling, and was a history buff.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Hayes of Whitesboro; a daughter, Patty McCollum and husband, Glenn of Howe; a son, Jim Bob Hayes and wife, Deneisha of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Kenrick, Kimberly, Cameron, Caden, Drew, Brody, Jett and McKinzy; an aunt, Marianne Rutherford and husband, Roy; numerous cousins, including Robert Shepherd Hayes, Peggy Wooldridge-Burg and Don Woodward.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, William B. Holsonbake.
