November 3, 1925 –  January 8, 2009  COLLINSVILLE รข?? Funeral Services for Velma Marie Matlock, 83, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Collinsville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2008 at the funeral home.
Velma passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at The Homestead in Collinsville.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1925 in Cooke County to Andy Ray Cox and Lucy (Keele) Cox. Velma married Jerry Matlock on Oct. 18, 1942 in Durant, OK. She was an Avon Representative for 47 years. Velma loved playing dominoes, travelling and spending time with her family. She was the best mom anyone could have. She was a friend and mentor to all of her children. Velma was a member of First Baptist Church in Collinsville.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Matlock of San Antonio and Vickie Underwood of Collinsville, two sons, Gary Matlock and Dennis Matlock, both of Collinsville, a brother, Weston Cox of Collinsville, a sister, Wanda Overstreet of Collinsville, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy Ray and Lucy Cox, her husband, Jerry Matlock and a sister, Nadine Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Hale, Dan Brown, Rick Hendricks, Roger McDaniel, Bob Bingham and Joe Bledsoe.
