September 20, 1930 –  December 23, 2014  WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Thomas Dale Buckhanan, 84, will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 10 a.m., in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel of Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Mike Flanagan and Hank Lovejoy officiating. Interment will follow the services at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation services will be held Friday evening, December 26, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will host a gathering of friends and loved ones at the family home following the services.He died on December 23, 2014 in Sherman, Texas at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center.
Thomas was born on September 20, 1930 in Cooke County, Texas to William Spencer and Bonnie (Pfaff) Buckhanan. He married Wilma Springs in Whitesboro, Texas in 1961. He was a famer and a rancher. He also worked for Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital for 30 years in maintenance. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro, Texas. He enjoyed working with wood, painting, playing musical instruments, and building trains.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma Buckhanan, of Whitesboro; daughter, Connie Morris and husband, Matt, of Sherman; nephew, Bill Buckhanan, of Whitesboro; niece, Bonnie Finch of Austin; niece, Charlene Blevins, of Whitesboro; and sister, Ruth Buckhanan, of Whitesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bonnie (Pfaff) Buckhanan; brothers: Jack and Charles Buckhanan; and sister, Ruby Holt.
Pallbearers will be J. A. Sample, Stanley Welch, Chance Dodd, Travis Maynard, and Chris Clark.
