June 28, 1941 –  October 1, 2006  WHITESBORO â?? Funeral services for Steve Culpepper will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan and Dr. Johnny Funderburg officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, Ocotober 3, 2006 at Meador Funeral Home.
Mr. Culpepper passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, TX.

Steve was born on June 28, 1941 in Collinsville, Texas to J.M. â??Busterâ? and Lorena (Ivy) Culpepper. He married Glenda Richardson on August 29, 1959 in Whitesboro, Texas. Steve started working for his father with Culpepper Plumbing and Air as a young teenager. They founded a family partnership in 1964 with owners Steve, Buster Culpepper and Jerry Culpepper. Steve was a member of First Baptist Church since 1965 and he served as a deacon since 1976. He was a member of Whitesboro Rotary serving as Treasurer for 35 years, a member of the Whitesboro Chamber of Commerce and was chosen as the Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1995. He served on the Whitesboro City Council for 3 terms over four decades, and also served as Mayor Pro-tem. He was instrumental in passing bond elections for new schools for the Whitesboro ISD. Steve was a strong supporter of the Whitesboro Booster Club. He loved to travel, camp, fish, play golf, take jeep tours and he especially loved his family. He and his wife Glenda have also hosted seven foreign exchange students over the years.

Steve is survived by: his wife, Glenda Culpepper of Whitesboro; a son, Dewayne Culpepper of Denton; a daughter, Penny Renfroe and husband Rusty of Whitesboro; two grandchildren; Reagan and Jordan Renfroe of Whitesboro; two brothers, Jerry Culpepper and wife Jenny of Denison and Merzon Culpepper and wife Flossie of Collinsville; three sisters; Martha Sue Hanning of Denison, Dorothy Worsham and husband Tom of Collinsville and Sandra Plummer and husband Melvin of Farmers Branch; numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Culpepper.

Pallbearers are: Charlie Whitecotten, Randy Sanders, Mike Pack, Earl Sanges, Tommy Neal, Gene Young, Smoot Earnhart, Chris Clark.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Deacons of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro.
