September 26, 1923 –  September 29, 2010  GORDONVILLE – Funeral services for Silvie E. Scott (87) will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, October 2, at Dixie Baptist Church in Whitesboro, TX with Rev. Carl Douglass officiating. Interment will follow at Allison Cemetery in Gordonville. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Family visitation will be Friday, October 1, from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel.Mr. Scott passed away in Sherman, TX on September 29, 2010.
Silvie was born on September 26, 1923 to William Thomas and Ethel “Minnie” (Hill) Scott in Lane, OK. He married Ella Louise Pugh on January 24, 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, became a prisoner of war, and received a purple heart and the good conduct medal. He was a carpenter by trade. He loved fishing. He was also a lifetime member of the American Veterans.
He is survived by host of nieces and nephews.
Silvie was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Louise Scott, his parents, William T. and “Minnie” Scott, his brothers, Nolen Ira Scott, Earl Scott and Jim Scott, and one sister, Myrtle Collins.
