September 27, 1926 –  September 9, 2014  Ruth Williams, of Gainesville, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Muenster Memorial Hospital at the age of eighty-six. She was born September 27, 1926 in Dexter, Texas to the late Ernest Howard and Rena May (Baker) Martin. Mrs. Williams had worked in sales and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She loved to cook, shop and grow tomatoes.
Funeral services for Ruth Williams will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 12th at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Chennault and Rev. Larry Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Byron Gilbreath, Scott Willis, Colton Willis, Ty Williams, Keith Rigsby, Jeff Carter, Delwin Swift and Jay Arendt will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Luke Williams, Lance Williams, Abe Williams and Chris Cypert. Family visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

Survivors include the love of her life, Virgil Williams to whom she had been married for 36 years; children, Shirley and Kenny Laux of Gainesville, Linda and Frank Westbury of Gainesville, Stan and Sharlene Willis of Gainesville, Terry “Bubba” and Cindy Willis of Gainesville; Keith and Sharon Williams of Woodbine, Gary and Patty Williams of Arlington, Bryan and Jamie Williams of Decatur and Johnny and Suzie Williams of Gainesville; sisters, Lucille Center of Whitesboro, Bunny Parker of Fort Worth, Martha Davidson and husband, Dave of Sherman and Faye and Gene Owens of Gainesville; brother, Pete Martin and wife, Betty of Abilene; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin of Collinsville, Patricia Martin of Lake Kiowa, Twana Martin of Little Elm, Barbara Martin of Mountain Springs, and Juanita Hampton of Gainesville; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Cecil Willis in 1971, brothers, Ernest, Robert, Howard, Randall, and Homer Martin; grandsons, Forest Willis and Paul Ritchie and great-granddaughter, Kathleen Arendt.
