April 20, 1933 –  March 23, 2015  Whitesboro – Funeral services for Ruth Helen Brookshear, 81, will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas. Interment will follow the services at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.She died on Monday, March 23, 2015, in Collinsville, Texas.
Ruth was born on April 20, 1933 in Grayson County, Texas to Joe Solomon and Fannie (Gillum) Carney. She married Homer Brookshear on November 19, 1949 at the McComb Methodist Church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro. She worked as a beautician for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Stopher and husband, Robert, Gainesville; her daughter, Debra Blagg and husband, Danny, of Denton; five grandchildren: Shellie Mahboub, Brian Pinkston, Jonathan Cole, Stacey Nemanic, and Mackenzie Blagg; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sisters: Pearl Battaglia of Sherman; and Paulette Pugh of Sherman.
She was preceded in death her husband, Homer Brookshear; her parents, Joe and Fannie Carney; granddaughter, Crystal Pinkston; brothers: Emitte Carney; J. W. “Dub” Carney; and Earl Carney; and sister, Edna Dodson.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Shellie Mahboub, Brian Pinkston, Jonathon Cole, Mackenzie Blagg, Cameran Gaskins, Haylie Gaskins, Cierra Sasiain, Raegan Cole, Alex Cole, and Conner Mahboub.
