Roy Gene Spears, 75, of Whitesboro, Texas was called home to a glorious reunion with his Lord and Savior Jesus, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
Roy was born on July 29, 1947 in Lufkin, Texas to Henry Eugene and Beulah Magnolia (Mims) Spears. He graduated from Lufkin High School and went on to serve proudly in the United States Navy. Roy married Linda Lea Henderson on September 3, 1981 in Sherman, Texas. He owned and operated Structural Fabrications in Sherman for over 30 years. Truly a Godly man, Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro and served on many committees within the church, serving on the Pastor search committee and the building committee. Roy loved sharing Jesus with people. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club. Roy enjoyed fishing and classic cars, he loved taking classic car trips. His greatest pride and joy in life was his family and he cherished every moment he spent with his children and his grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his wife, Linda Spears of Whitesboro; daughter, Laura Baker and husband, Chris; daughter, Jennifer Bezek and husband, Marc; daughter, Melissa Schares and husband, Billy; son, Neil Scoggins and wife, Shannon; brother, Joe Spears and wife, Phyllis; brother, Dave Spears, brother, Bill Spears and wife, Mary; sister, Juanita Mullins; sister, Maydell Sumrall; sister-in-law, Joyce Earl; grandchildren, Clarissa, Skylar and Jackson Baker, Damien and Ainsley Bezek, Trey and Mallory Schares, David and Keeley Schares, Katie Schares, Ethan, Olivia and McKenna Scoggins, great-grandchildren, Sadie and Will Schares and he was looking forward to the birth of his third great-grandchild in January, Dottie Schares, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Beulah Spears, in-laws, JP and Marie Henderson, sister, Lucille Morgan, sister, Mary Louise Sexton, brother, Buddy Spears, sister, Naoma Spears, brother, H.G. Spears, brother, Elvin Eugene Spears, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Glenn Hellinger, and brother-in-law, Larry Earl.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Barnes, Lance Zielke, Jerry Warren, Danny Sluder, Ted Brannan, Donny O’Dell, Tommy Hearon, and Jerry Grimes.
Funeral services honoring Roy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Mike Flanagan. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM.
