Rodney Wade Hall, born on February 8, 1957, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, February 1, 2025. For 45 years, he was the devoted husband of JoAnn Hall, their love story a testament to enduring commitment and unwavering affection. Rodney was the cornerstone of his family, a man whose life revolved around the happiness and well-being of his children and grandchildren. He was a true family man that cherished every moment and created memories that will be treasured for generations to come. He leaves behind a legacy of love, patience, ongoing support, and a quick wit that kept everyone on their toes.
His gentle spirit and quiet strength were a constant source of comfort and guidance, often punctuated by a well-timed joke or playful tease. He had a knack for giving people a hard time, all in good fun, and his playful humor will be sorely missed.
He possessed a rare patience, always encouraging his family to strive for their best through his profound belief in their potential. This patience, however, didn’t extend to karaoke nights. Rodney loved to belt out a tune, and even if he didn’t know the words (which was often the case), he was a master at improvising, creating his own hilarious and often nonsensical versions that were guaranteed to bring down the house.
A man of simple pleasures, Rodney found joy in the outdoors, casting a line in his favorite fishing spot or venturing into the woods on a hunting trip. He was a fan of classic Westerns, often losing himself in the tales of the Old West. Music filled his life, providing a soundtrack to his days and a source of comfort and inspiration, especially when he was holding a microphone.
Rodney is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn Hall; brother Randall Hall of Gainesville, sister Denita Walden of Gainesville, his children, John Hall and wife Kiki Hall of Sanger, Amanda Smith and husband Steve Smith of Woodbine, and Janette Smith and husband Billy Smith of Tioga. 9 grandkids: Laney and Macey Hall, Avery, Emery, Lily Reiter, and Jack Smith, Kristian, Abby, and J.P. Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, RV Hall; his mother, Olena Jane Foster; and his sister, Phyllis Nicholas. His memory will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the laughter he inspired will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with burial to follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Gainesville. Rodney will lay in state at the funeral home on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the formal visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
