May 5, 1928 –  February 12, 2008  WHITESBORO â?? Funeral Services for Robert Royce Arnold, Sr., 79, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Sandusky. No formal visitation will be held, but friends can stop by the funeral home for viewing.
Royce passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.

Royce Arnold was the son of Ralph and Ida Arnold. He was born on May 5, 1928 at Cedar Bayou, Gordonville, Texas. After school he joined the Army and was granted a discharge due to a hardship. He married Helen Bedrick on Sept. 11, 1954 in Sherman. His professional career started with Richardâ??s Funeral Home in Whitesboro. He also worked for Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman and later for Huff Funeral Home in Whitesboro, from which he retired after 49 years of total service. Royce loved serving people. After his retirement he would still find himself working at the funeral home. Royce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Arnold of Whitesboro; a daughter, Teresa Ballard and husband Dwane of Celina; a son, Robert Arnold, Jr., of Sherman; a granddaughter, Janie Ballard of Celina and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers are: Joe Bertino, Dr. Harold Pitts, Carlos Brady, Ed Hayes, Carl McClendon and Homer Brookshear.
