September 27, 1918 –  December 6, 2015  Funeral Services for Raymond Wornick Gressett, 97, of Southmayd will be Friday, December 11, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Tioga, Texas, with Bro. Bobby Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Tioga Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He died Sunday, December 6, 2015, at his home with his family by his side. He was born to William Thomas Gressett and Marguerite (Ketner) Gressett on September 27, 1918, in Ferris, Texas. He married Gladys Morrow (Mullins) Gressett on April 8, 1942. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Tioga. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to garden in his vegetable garden and was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of Company B, 328th Engineer Battalion, Tec 5 Truck Driver 345 receiving his Driver and Mechanic Badge. He fought in the following Battles and Campaigns—Sicilian-Naples-Foggia-Rome-Arno-Southern France-Rhineland and Central Europe. His Decorations and Citations included The Good Conduct Medal, 1 Service Stripe, 4 Overseas Bars, American Defense Service Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 6 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead and a Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He is survived by his son, Bill Mullins and wife, June of Golden, Colorado; 2 daughters, Millie Rutherford of Southmayd and Carolyn Dickey and husband, Mike of Dallas; 1 brother, Dave Gressett of Tioga and 2 sisters, Dessie Haker of Murphy and Vera Skipworth of Sherman; 6 grandchildren, Katy Keeling and husband, Clay, Sam Mullins and wife, Kristi, Michele Powell and husband, Kyle, April Peavy and husband, Adam, Jaclyn Carignan and husband, Mike and Adam Mullins and wife, April; and 20 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry Gressett, Bill Raulston, Kenny Gressett, Gary Gressett, Kevin Gressett and Dale Gressett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hall and Marvin Tischler.He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elnora Gressett; wife, Gladys Gressett; 2 brothers, Herman and Eddy Gressett; and 2 sisters, Murell Payne and Marie Raulston.
