September 5, 1930 –  September 19, 2017  Homegoing Services for Murl Ree Jackson Grigsby are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30th at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, 602 N. Grand Ave. Gainesville, Texas 76240. Pastor Ronnie Phillips will be officiating the service with Pastor Marcus Beard of Los Angeles California delivering the Eulogy. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A Repass Dinner will be held at Whaley United Methodist Church, 701 Rosedale Gainesville, Texas. A visitation will be held at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening September 29, 2017.
Gainesville resident, Murl Jackson Grigsby passed away Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017 at Medical City Hospital in Denton surrounded by her loving family. She was eighty-seven years of age. Murl was born in Linden, Texas on September 5, 1930, the daughter of John S. Mack and Melinda Harrison. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Old Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She served faithfully until her health declined.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Dottie (Dotsie) and Robert Beard of Los Angeles, Linda and James Lewis of Gainesville, Glenda (Sue) Jackson of Gainesville, Laura and Eric Cofie of Princeton and Judy Jackson Peace of Gainesville; sons and daughter-in-law, Henry and Deloris Harrison of Gainesville, McKinny Henry of Gainesville, Charles Jackson of Dallas and Edward (Bubba) Jackson of Gainesville; 50 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Joe Lee Henry, Willie Ray Jackson and Mitchell Grigsby; daughter, Myrtle Henry; sisters, Izona Hines, Izorra Pooler and Mae Zackery; brother, James Harrison, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
