WHITESBORO — Millie Hotze, age 83, passed from this life Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Pecan Point Assisted Living; Sherman, Texas.

Millie was born April 24, 1926 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Emma Mansell Moore. Her late brother was Lawrence Moore, Jr.

On May 6, 1944, she married Charles R. Hotze, Jr. in Sharon, Pennsylvania at the First Presbyterian Church. Chuck and Millie celebrated their 60th anniversary on May 6, 2004.

Being the wife of an Air Force officer and navigator, Millie was called to hostess many functions for other military wives. It was during this time that she grew an aversion to bingo. However, gourmet cooking became a passion of Millieâ??s with an emphasis on taking average recipes and converting them to heart healthy, delicious meals, despite being the daughter of a baker.

Military assignments took Mrs. Hotze and her family from Virginia to Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Louisiana, South Carolina, California, Texas and Alabama. Their business careers would take them from to live in Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Illinois as well. Millie became an accomplished home designer and relocation artist.

In the late 1950â??s, Millieâ??s husband, Chuck and family entered the pneumatic nailing and stapling industry, remaining there until retirement in 1984 from Senco Products. Before Senco, the Hotzes had their own pneumatics distributorship, Dixie Stapler in Atlanta, Georgia. As well as working alongside her husband in the pneumatics industry, she was also employed by Tenneco Oil in Illinois.

Millie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro and was an avid Girl Scout leader for many years. She had numerous secretarial skills and loved all aspects of office work. Sewing was also a major skill that proved most valuable for her family when her childrenâ??s costumes and clothing needed to be made.

Mrs. Hotze is survived by daughter Karen Hotze Hopkins and husband John of Roswell, Georgia; son Charles R. Hotze III and wife Barbara of Collinsville; 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.

The memorial and celebration of Millieâ??s life will be at First United Methodist Church, Whitesboro on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Jack Wallace will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stephens Ministry of Whitesboro First United Methodist Church; P. O. Box 370; Whitesboro, Texas 76273.
