July 19, 1917 – August 5, 2011 WHITESBORO – Funeral Services for Mildred Acker, 94, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Hermanson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.Mildred passed away on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 at Stone Brook Assisted Living Center in Denison.
She was born on July 19, 1917 in Cooke County, Texas to Walter and Izola (Warden) Marlin. She married Woodrow Acker on Oct. 1, 1938 in Cooke County, Texas. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2009. She loved working with ceramics and operated a ceramic shop in Whitesboro for many years. Before that, she sewed for the public and worked at sewing factories.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Short of Sherman; 3 grandchildren, Tammy Bohannan and husband, Dion of Allen, Darryl Short and wife, Cheryl of Sherman, and Danny Short of Sherman; 9 great-grandchildren, Josh Short, Mason Short, Connor Short, Emily Bohannan, Devon Bohannan, Christina Bohannan, Mikey Petersen, Jeremy Petersen and Lindsay Duncan; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pauline Watkins; a brother, J.B. Marlin and her son-in-law, Lonnie Short.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Short, Danny Short, Mason Short and Connor Short.
