December 31, 1946 –  February 17, 2016  Funeral Services for Mickey Ray Meals, 69, of Whitesboro will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He passed away Wednesday, February 17th at his home with his family by his side. He was born to Marshall and Imogene (Runyan) Meals on December 31, 1946, in Clarksville, Texas. He married Jean (Bevan) Meals on October 10, 1969. He was self-employed and was a member of Bones Chapel Baptist Church. He served in Viet Nam with the U.S. Marine Corp. Mickey loved to hunt, fish and woodworking. He was an avid marksman, having won several competitions. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was all about family. He will be missed by his special friend, Sophie the dog. Pallbearers will be Michael Meals, Andrew Meals, Colby Meals, Corey Meals, A.J. Meals, Russell Winborne and Seneca Meals. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Foster, Mike Allred, and Gary Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Jean Meals of Whitesboro and daughters, Tami Schares and husband, Douglas of Whitesboro and Celisa Meals of Dallas; grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah and Devin Schares and Makayla Williams of Whitesboro; brothers, Andy Meals and Donnie Meals of Whitesboro, and Ellis Meals of Little Elm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Imogene Meals; daughter, Melia Williams and grandson, Blake Simmons.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Butch Tamplen Memorial Scholarship, Whitesboro High School, 115 Fourth Street, Whitesboro, Texas 76273.
