Funeral Services for Michael Joe Brookshear, 67, will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Cooke County Cowboy Church in Gainesville, Texas with Rev. Jeff Harris and Josh Wallace officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Macomb Cemetery east of Whitesboro.  All services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.  A fellowship meal will be served following the graveside service for all friends and family.

Michael was born on May 5, 1955 in Wichita Falls, Texas to James Alfred Brookshear and Frances Jo Harris Brookshear.  He was a member of Corner Cowboy Church in Collinsville, Texas.  Michael retired after 28 years with Johnsrud Trucking, having traveled 46 of the 48 contiguous states of the United States.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brookshear of Whitesboro; sister, Pam Brookshear of Fort Worth; nieces, Christy Musch of Jackson, Missouri, and Adrian Maddox, currently residing in the Philippines; bonus children, Tina Waters of Whitesboro; Brenda Peña of Sherman; and Brad Waters and wife, Lee of Sherman; grandsons, Michael Waters, Doug Waters, Jesse Peña, and George Peña, and granddaughter, Marissa Grace Waters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jo Brookshear, his brother, Rickie and nephew, Jamey Brookshear.

Pallbearers will be his stepson, Brad Waters, his grandsons, and Dr. Ray Lynn Stuckey.
