June 18, 1926 –  November 30, 2008  LAKE KIOWA- A celebration of life for Mary M. (Lemmons) Gill, 82, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Gainesville Civic Center, 311 S. Weaver, Gainesville, Texas with Olden Cook officiating. A reception will follow the service. A private graveside service was held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at Collinsville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
Mary passed away at her home in Lake Kiowa on Sunday, November 30, 2008.

Mary was born on June 18, 1926 in Denison, Texas to Elmer Arthur Lemmons and Aletha Marie (Henry) Lemmons, a descendent of Patrick Henry. She married Harry Gill on March 20, 1943 in Grand Prairie. Mary graduated in 1944 from Grand Prairie High School as Valedictorian. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Red Hat Society and Phieta Sorority. Mary served the Cooke county community in many aspects, as a founding member of the Volunteer Auxiliary of Home Hospice of Cooke County, volunteer advocate for CASA, board of director of the Frank Buck Zoological Society and board of director emeritus and ambassador for the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Mary was a ray of sunshine anytime you saw her and always had a smile on her face with a hug for every person she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Gill and wife Deborah of Checotah, Oklahoma and Edwin D. Gill and wife Tammy K of North Richland Hills; 4 grandchildren, Rodney D. Gill and wife Renae of Arlington, Darren S. Gill of Hurst, Kelly L. Gill of Dallas and Edwin Brent Gill of Irving; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; a niece, Pamela Sue Williams Ortloff and husband Alan of Madill, Oklahoma

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gill; parents, Elmer and Aletha Lemmons; a brother, Walter Trellis Lemmons and a sister, Bettye Marcellia Lemmons Williams.
