Mary Eleanor Dodson, 93, of Whitesboro, Texas was called to her eternal home on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Mary was born on August 15, 1931 in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania to Simon and Michaelena (Harmonovich) Yarasavage. She married J.D. Dodson on June 7, 1952 in Tunkhannock and together they built a life and raised seven children. They moved to Whitesboro in 1973 with their family. Mary was a longtime member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro and was in fact one of its founding members. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to the shut-ins in the community for many years. She enjoyed sewing for her family and made new Easter dresses for the girls every year. Christmas Eve had everyone in new Christmas pajamas. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, traveling and camping. Mary was an excellent cook, often feeding many of the neighborhood kids that were at her house, and you never left her home hungry. She loved and adored her family and cherished each moment with them.
She is survived by her son, John Dodson of Redding, CA; son, David Dodson and wife, Linda of McAllister, OK; daughter, Debra Eldredge and husband, Terry of Corinth, TX; Mary Farmer and husband, Bobby of Sadler, TX; daughter, Paula Dodson of Whitesboro; daughter, Jennifer Dodson and husband, Brandon Rolen of Denison, TX; grandchildren, Brandy(Tim), Jeremiah (Stephanie), Theresa (Brian), Rebecca (Nathan), Michael (Shanara), Dawn (Gene), Jacob (Victoria), Cathy (Cary), Melinda (Matt), and TJ (Amber), Ryan, James, Laura, Timothy, Elizabeth, John, Nevaeh, Maddox, and Ace, twenty-seven great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Michaelena Yarasavage, husband, J.D. Dodson, daughter, Laurie Corcoran, siblings, John, Adam, Vic, Eve, Helen, Josie, and Eddie.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael, James, Ryan, TJ, Jacob, Jeremiah, Brandon and Tim.
Funeral services honoring Mary will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Whitesboro, officiated by Father Martin Castaneda. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A rosery will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025 followed by a visitation at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
