August 16, 1919 –  July 13, 2015  WHITESBORO – Funeral Services for Mark Thomas Bentley, 95, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. All services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.Mark passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 in a Lewisville nursing facility.
He was born on August 16, 1919 in Whitesboro to William Thomas Bentley and Emma Lee (Brooks) Bentley. Mark served in the U.S. Army during WW II, part of the time, attached to the Army Medical Corps and the Air Force. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sgt. On June 15, 1947, he married Jean Morris in Anthony, Kansas. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Whitesboro, serving in the Church Bus Ministry since 1984 and was also active in the Brotherhood, Texas Baptist Men and as Secretary of the Senior Adult Men’s Class.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Shirlee Stewart and husband, David of Lewisville, Jeanelle Rao and husband, Dale of Granbury, and Marchele Metcalfe and husband, Ron of Lake Kiowa; a step-son, Gerald W. Woodford of Gainesville; 4 sisters, Nell J. Reager of Whitesboro, Mary Findley of Denison, Patricia Douglas and husband, Craven of Flower Mound, and Blair Read and husband, Richard of The Woodlands; 6 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Bentley; a step-daughter, Joan Wright; and a grandson, Jacob Sandlin.
Members of the Brotherhood at First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
