February 3, 1937 –  March 26, 2014  Manuelita “Lita” Romero, 77, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 3, 1937 in Maes, New Mexico, the daughter of Fidencio and Erlinda (Gonzales) Baca. Lita married Eugenio Romero April 27, 1953. She had worked as a nurse, using her skills to care for the elderly.
She is survived by husband, Eugenio Romero of Gainesville; sons, Ray Romero and wife, Sharon of Denton and Roy Romero of Gainesville; daughters, Patsy Martin of Gainesville, Diane Fisher and husband, Danny of Gainesville, Margaret Stevens and husband, Curtis of Missouri, June Vorhis and husband, Glen of Denton and Jean Romero of Gainesville; sisters, Maryann Madrid of Las Vegas, NM and Linda Baca of Santa Fe, NM; brothers, Onesimo Baca of Oakland, CA, Pacifico Baca of Las Vegas, NM and Benjamin Baca of Las Vegas, NM; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren ; 1 great-great-grandchild; godsons, Walter Baca, Alfred Romero and Earl Baca and many, many other extended family members. In addition to family members, Lita is survived by a dear friend, Janice Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kelly Romero, Andrew Romero and Bernardo Romero; daughter, Pauline Romero; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Manuelita “Lita” will be greatly missed.

A reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 30th at Tabernacle Baptist Church. There will be a Memorial Service for Lita in Maes, NM at Baca Ranch June 14, 2014.
