Mable “Betty” Elizabeth McCartney, 91, of Gainesville, TX passed away on December 25th, 2022, at the Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville. There will be a remembrance gathering for family and friends on Friday, December 30th, 2022, at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Betty was born on July 4th, 1931, to William and Mary Barnett in Altamont, Kansas. She married Fred Eugene McCartney on June 7th, 1948, in Independence, Kansas. Betty worked for Texas Instruments in Richardson for many years. She loved to mow and being outdoors where she enjoyed swimming in her pool. Betty also loved arts and crafts and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters Bonnie George of Gainesville, TX, Connie Hunter and husband Roger of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Sherry Zwinggi of Gainesville, Shana Galvan and husband Mike of Gainesville; son Jason McCartney and wife Bridgette of Gainesville; grandchildren Raquel Brogden, Rachelle Drake, Randall Drake, Lacy West, Savannah George, Chandie Randle, Chance Hunter, Jeremy Zwinggi, Justin Galvan, Jessica Stobaugh and Jacy McCartney; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Fred McCartney; parents William and Mary Barnett; brother Billy Barnett, Dick Barnett and Jerry Barnett; son-in-law Bobby George; granddaughter Jamie Zwinggi Yosten.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Gainesville. At this time no services are scheduled.
