August 14, 1928 –  April 6, 2012  Lee Richardson Jones, 83, passed away Friday afternoon, April 6th, at Texas Health Presbyterian – WNJ Hospital in Sherman, TX. Lee is survived by her husband Cecil Neil Jones, her five children (Retha Wright of Charlottesville, VA, Christiane Foxworth Wright of Dallas, TX, Lynne Lawrence Wright of Bryan, TX, Miles Corbett Wright of Raleigh, NC, and William Louis McLeod of Larkspur, CA) and her nine grandchildren. Lee was born on August 14, 1928 in Richmond, Virginia to George Lynwood Richardson and Retha Daisy Watkins. She was preceded in death by her brother L.W. â??Critâ? Richardson in 2007.
She received highest honors while attending St. Catherine’s and Collegiate School in Richmond, and graduated from Ogontz School for Girls in Philadelphia, PA in 1946. She was quite proud of receiving a $200 scholarship check from the Mayor of Philadelphia during her senior year.

Lee attended college at both Hollins College in Roanoke, VA and East Texas State University in Commerce, TX, where she graduated summa cum laude.

Leeâ??s lifelong love of horses led her to numerous cities throughout her life, finally settling in Texas in 1970. She married Neil in 1971 and the couple built three ranches before constructing La Cima II in 1984. She was an expert horse trainer and championship rider, frequently winning national competitions in gaited American Saddlehorse shows and hunter/jumper competitions. Her interests migrated to thoroughbreds over the last twenty years and she bred several winning horses. She was inducted as a lifetime member in the Texas Thoroughbred Association in 2010.

Her other interests include rose gardening and a love for artâ?¦.she was an accomplished artist in her own right. She and Neil were members of the Collinsville United Methodist Church and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Lee loved her connection to her birth state of Virginia and she lived a long, wonderful, event-filled life that was full of blessings.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, TX officiated by Dr. Phil Coats. Interment to follow at La Cima II Ranch in Collinsville. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers are David McNeese, David Hendrick, Pete Pelcher, Randy LaGrone, Mickey Rogers, and Rickey Patterson.
