September 10, 1950 –  March 1, 2014  Funeral services for Larry Dale Golden, 63, will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas with Brother Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Tabor Cemetery north of Whitesboro at Sandusky. There will be viewing service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral.Larry was born September 10, 1950, in Sherman, TX to Calvin Larry and Ernestine Savage Golden and was a lifetime resident of Grayson County Texas. He went to be with our Lord on March 1, 2014 in Whitesboro.
Larry met and married Sharon Arledge Golden on October 18, 1975. He loved and adored her and their two children, Calvin and Kendall Golden. He was a loving and respected grandson, son, husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend. He had a special gift of talking to people and making time to get to know and care about others. Larry Dale thoroughly enjoyed being on the family farm, tending cows and hauling hay. He looked forward to working outdoors digging in the dirt building ponds, making foundation pads, putting in septic systems, and graveling rock roads. He also worked at and later took over the family business at Sherwood Shores, Golden’s “1” Stop. His hobbies included being an avid reader, history buff and riding motorcycles.
Mr. Golden is survived by his wife, Sharon Golden of Whitesboro, his son and daughter-in-law; Calvin and Melissa Golden of California, his aunt; Rose Golden of Whitesboro; his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws,; Karen Goodson of McKinney, Rick and Nan Farmer of Whitesboro, and Jim Arledge of Sherwood Shores, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents; Ernest and Jessie Faye Savage of Whitesboro, Calvin and Bertha Golden of Gordonville; his great uncle; Alvin Golden; his parents; Calvin Larry and Ernestine Golden of Gordonville; his brother; Darrell Golden of Gordonville; his uncle; Lyndell Golden of Whitesboro, and his daughter; Kendall Golden of Whitesboro.
Pallbearers will be Sam Goodson, Bryan Farmer, Brandon Farmer, Sterlin Arledge, Greg Golden, Michael Torres, Michael Lynn Farmer, Hayden Baillio, and Jordan Young. Honorary pallbearers are Stefanie Goodson, Brandi Arledge, Joe Bates, Joe Earl Bates, Keith Bates, and Richard Rose.
Memorials can be made to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
