May 15, 1927 –  October 19, 2016  Funeral Services for L.C. “Pete” Meek, 89, of Whitesboro, Texas will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Whitesboro, Texas, Friday, October 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at 1:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. He passed away Wednesday, October 19th at The Seasons of the Renaissance in Sherman, Texas. He was born to John H. and Hattie (Pace) Meek on May 15, 1927 in Dexter, Texas. He married Shirley Hargesheimer on June 21, 1980 in Whitesboro, Texas. Pete was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro where he was very active with the United Methodist Men and was a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class, Meals on Wheels and the lunch program for children sponsored by First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro and he was a member of Woodman’s of the World. Pete was retired from Johnson & Johnson and Line Materials. He was a custodian for Whitesboro ISD for 10 years, having served in the U.S. Army for two years. Pete loved to fish, ski and spend time at Lake Texoma. He was a member of the Grayson County Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by a brother, David Meek and his wife, Roberta of Sherman; sisters, Mildred Gardner, Washington State, Iva Meek, Ft. Worth and Dora Chandler of Ft. Worth; brother-in law, Bob Hargesheimer and his wife, Betty of Whitesboro and brother-in-law, Don Hargesheimer of Whitesboro, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pete was loved by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be; Kyle Maynard, Rick Simmons, Greg Hickman, Danny Garrison, Tanner Mason and Kerry Workman.
Honorary Pallbearers; Jimmy Tom McDonnell, Art McGuire and David Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Meek, and his parents, John and Hattie Meek.
