April 29, 1962 –  April 19, 2017  WHITESBORO- Funeral Services for Kathy Ann Wilson, 54 will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Christian Life Center on Saturday, April 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Kathy entered her Eternal Home on Wednesday, April 19th at Texoma Medical Center, Denison with her loving family by her side. She was born April 29, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harold W. and Jo Ann (Scott) Watson. Her father preceded her in death. Kathy Watson married Russ Wilson on July 21, 1984 in Denton, Texas. She received her Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of North Texas in 1984 after beginning her college education at the University of Colorado and received her Masters of Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma in 2013. Kathy was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Out of college, she worked at Texas Instruments as a Financial Analyst for 3 years. Kathy was well known in the Whitesboro area as a school teacher, a coach and an assistant principal and for many other services and accomplishments over the years. She received the Whitesboro Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award at the Awards Banquet last month. This award is reserved for those who give of their time, money and spirit to the community and citizens of the Whitesboro area over a long period of time. Kathy was not only a great educator, she had all the qualities that all of us should strive to achieve. She was honest, kind, generous, humble, faithful, supportive, creative, fair, forgiving and always thinking of others before herself. She exemplified those traits in her classroom, but also in her leadership roles with her fellow teachers and church members. Her willingness and desire to serve others helped her to stand out in the community. Kathy was involved at FBC in Mission Friends, her Sunday School Class, GA’s (Girls in Action), coached soccer and T-Ball and was the founder of WAYSA (Whitesboro Area Youth Sports Association). She was a leader in Players in Progress (PIP) and later became a founder of Texoma’s Positive Promise and of the Whitesboro Education Foundation Program. When Kathy started substituting at Whitesboro ISD, she later became a math teacher at the middle school and high school for twelve years. While at the middle school and high school, she was the Student Council Sponsor and served as Cheerleader Sponsor at both the middle school and high school for 7 years. She was promoted to the position of assistant principal where she served until her illness forced her to stop. Kathy was a loving wife and mother and loved her children with all her heart. She was a stay at home mom until their middle school years. Kathy was an inspiration to all who knew her and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church. Deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. She is survived by her husband, Russ Wilson of Whitesboro; son, Blake Wilson and wife, Kayla of Frisco; daughter, Brooke Wilson of Dallas; mother, JoAnn Klump and husband, Gary of Flower Mound; sister, Pam Davis and husband, Darren of Bullard; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Linda Wilson of Whitesboro; sister-in-law and husband, Debbie and David McNeese of Whitesboro; niece, Madison Davis and nephew, Austin Davis; as well as a host of friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Harold W. Watson and twin sister, Kelly Lynn Watson and a very close family member, cousin Mark Alan Wilson. http://videos.lifetributes.com/796971
