May 10, 1924 –  October 8, 2013  Katherine Kanaman Tamplen Samples, age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at her home in Whitesboro, TX, surrounded by her family. She battled scoliosis, congestive heart failure and dementia, but she triumphed in the end by earning her angel wings.
Katherine was born May 10, 1924 in Dallas, TX to Roy and Maizie Kanaman. She grew up in Frisco, TX with her two sisters and four brothers. She finished up her working career by retiring from Johnson & Johnson in Sherman. She was a talented seamstress and was excellent at doing needlepoint crafts. She loved working in the yard with her little dog, Dolly, her constant companion.

She is survived by her daughter (and ?son?) Martha and Wayne Chisum of Whitesboro, her granddaughter Cindy Chisum of Dallas, her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Nancy Kanaman of Campbell, TX and many, many loving nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jody Wayne Chisum, first husband, Eddie Tamplen, second husband, Wayne Samples, brothers,James Roy Kanaman, Robert Kanaman, Roger Kanaman, and sisters, Jean Kimberlin and Doris Hanis.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 11, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving are Jimmy Bingham, Collin Kanaman, Jerry Hall, Robert Kanaman, J. R. Kanaman, James Chisum.

The family will have a visitation time on Th
ursday, October 10, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home, Whitesboro, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro, or Grayson County Home Hospice in Sherman, TX.
