September 22, 1934 –  January 23, 2014  Joe Eldon Samek, 79, of Denton died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at North Texas Medical Center. He was born September 22, 1934 in Gainesville, Texas to Julia (Morris) and John Samek, Jr. Joe was a veteran of the US Army. He married Wanda L. Davis January 25, 1958 in Gainesville. Mr. Samek was an accountant and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Before moving to Denton, he had lived in Era and Gainesville.

A graveside service for Joe Eldon Samek will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25th at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Hubert Wright officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home. Eagle Scouts will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Samek of Denton; sons, Gary Samek and wife, Ellen of Valley View and Bradley Samek and wife, Nikki of Azle; brothers, John Samek and wife, Barbara of Graham, Kentucky and Charles Samek and wife, Donna of Valley View; sister, Theresa Stevens of Gainesville and grandchildren, Michael, JoAnna, Caitlyn, Kristen, Rachel, Lydia, Sarah and David. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Edna Barker.
