JoAnn “Jodie” Knight passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Pecan Tree Health and Rehab in Gainesville. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville.

Jodie was born on March 13, 1932, to A.C. and Glenn Schneider in Dallas, TX. She married Wilton Eugene Knight on January 27, 1956, in Fort Worth, TX. Jodie graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked at Harris hospital and Gainesville Memorial Hospital. Jodie also taught nursing at NCTC in Gainesville. She was a member of the Callisburg United Methodist Church. Jodie was also a volunteer serving countless hours for the Cooke County Meals on Wheels program.  JoAnn loved to garden, enjoyed spending time with her family, and she loved to sing.

JoAnn and three of her sisters sang together as a quartet all their lives.  She was the alto of the group and they sang in perfect harmony, hymns and all songs of WWII.  Her younger brother and youngest sister were musical as well, however, they lived with their grandparents in Gainesville during the depression while Jodie and three sisters grew up in the All Church Home in Fort Worth where their mother worked.  She loved her siblings and their families as much as anything in her life.  JoAnn was the beloved “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She could also be quite a character.  We never knew when she might do a little dance or sing a little song or even play a joke on one of us.

She is survived by her two older sisters, Evelyn Good and Jean Hinds, and her younger brother and his wife, Charles and Sandra Schneider. Her daughter and husband, Carrie and Mark Davidson of Valley View. Her son, Gary Knight of Gainesville. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren Elijah and Krista Davidson, and Rowan and Hazel of Pasadena, CA. Amos and Kailey Davidson, and Lynli, Abel, and Noah of Valley View. Hannah and Anthony Black, and Titus of Valley View. Abigail Davidson of Valley View. Rebekah Davidson of Valley View.  Micah and Amy Davidson of Ponder. Lundi Knight of Colorado. Alexandria and Cordell Hannum, and Adelyn of Troy, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Knight, grandson, Michael Knight and two younger sisters, Margaret Hagler and Patsy Morris.
