March 6, 1926 –  May 24, 2015  Funeral services for Jewel Kathryn (Franks) Laughlin, 89, of Denison, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Southside Baptist Church (3500 S. Park Ave.) in Denison with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating and family friend, Shirley Miller, will be speaking. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.Kathryn passed away, peacefully, on May 24, 2015, at Beacon Hill in Denison.
She was born to Roy Cleave Franks and Daisy Mae (Marlow) Franks on March 6, 1926, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Kathryn married Bert Glen Laughlin on February 21, 1945. She was an excellent seamstress and alteration specialist; Kathryn worked at Brabant Cleaners for years. Kathryn was very active in her community until her death; she was a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher’s Association, a member of the Denison Service League, Past President of Denison Kiwanis, and taught Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas for 57 years. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, and shared the Word to all that she encountered. Kathryn loved the Lord, her family, and church family whole heartedly. She was a supporter of the Denison Yellow Jackets and the Dallas Cowboys; in fact, she prayed for the Cowboys and Tony Romo to win each time they played.
Kathryn is survived by son, Don Laughlin and wife, Gail, of Del City, OK; two daughters, Charlotte Williams of Whitesboro and Linda Banks and husband, Gary, of Denison; a brother, Bob Franks and wife, Jean, of Denison; eight grandchildren, Diana Meador and husband, Tim, of Whitesboro, JoAnna Brown and husband, Clint, of Era, Amy Ryals and husband, Steve, of Colorado, Michael Hanson and wife, Dana, of Kansas, Stephanie Clark and husband, Ronnie, of Denison, Donya Huber and husband, Larry, of Boerne, Gary Wayne Banks and wife, Misty, of Denison and Ryan Laughlin of Colorado; special friends, Sherri and Danny Taylor of Denison; 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren
Pallbearers will be George Lay, Clifford McKenzie, Jimmy Grimes, Tom Akins, Tim Hosman, and Ron Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Riddle, Danny Taylor and Bill Vandever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Daisy Franks; husband, Bert Laughlin; son, Gary Laughlin; three brothers; and four sisters.
