January 31, 1923 –  May 10, 2010  WHITESBORO- Funeral Services for Jean M. Bentley, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Jean passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
She was born on January 31, 1923 in Kingman, Kansas to William Van and Iva Dee (Downey) Morris. Jean married Mark T. Bentley on June 15, 1947 in Anthony, Kansas. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Whitesboro, where she has served as Director of Young Married and Senior Adult Departments. Jean was active, along with her husband, in Senior Adult Bus ministry. She helped with Prayer Chapel Ministry and helped form the Bereavement Committee at the First Baptist Church. Jean’s hobbies were sewing and painting. She was a charter member of Decorative Painting Chapter, Wildflowers of Texoma, in Sherman and a member of the National Society of Decorative Painters headquartered in Wichita, Kansas.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Bentley of Whitesboro; three daughters, Shirlee Stewart and husband, David, of Lewisville, Texas, Jeanelle Rao and husband, Dale, of Frisco, Texas and Marchele Metcalfe and husband, Ron, of Lake Kiowa; one son, Gerald Woodford of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Morris and Iva Boroughs; a daughter, Joan Wright; a grandson, Jake Sandlin; a sister, Wilma May Ford; and brother, Billy Duane Morris.
