August 14, 1944 –  March 12, 2018  Whitesboro – Memorial services for Janie Godsey,73, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Jerry Davis, Ricky Patterson and Rev. Keith Byrom. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.She passed away in Bowie, Texas on Monday, March 12, 2018 with her family by her side.
Janie was born on August 14, 1944 in Sherman, TX to L.V. “Bun” and Anna Lee (Moran) Phelps. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville. She worked as a Medical Insurance Specialist. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, and cooking. She loved her family and her church and church family. Janie loved basketball and played through high school as did her children. After a game she never asked how many points did you get, she asked how many fouls did you get? If you didn’t get four, then she let you know right quick you weren’t hustling enough. To everyone that knew and loved her she was known as MiMi and she loved being a MiMi to everyone.
She is survived by her daughter, Johnna Clark and husband, Ronnie of Pottsboro, daughter Jacqueline Jaresh and husband, Randy of Bowie, son, Johnny Lee Godsey and wife, Gala of Collinsville, nine grandchildren, Ashlee Mathis and husband, Chris, Bethany Watson and husband, Chad, Audree Perdue and husband, Ricky, Carlin Bryan, Aaron Carter and wife, Alexis, Abby Ball and husband, Hunter, Luke Godsey, Jake Godsey, Kenzee Jaresh, four great-grandchildren, Cayson Watson, Caleb Watson, Baylee Watson, Tripp Perdue, brother, L.V. Phelps and wife, Melba, brother, Steve Phelps and wife, Nila, sister, Claudine Morrow and sister, Patsy Neasbitt.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, L.V. “Bun” and Anna Lee Phelps, six sisters and a granddaughter, Amanda Carter. http://videos.lifetributes.com/878821
