Janie Fern Finley, 106 of Gainesville, Texas passed away on February 15, 2026. She was born on November 12, 1919 in Kaufman, County, Texas to Lucian Fox and Lettie (LaRoe) Fox. Janie married Robert Douglas Finley on December 23, 1941, he preceded her in death in the year 2007.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Sharon Ball and husband, Mike and son, Michael Finley and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Marcus Finley and wife, Morgan and Brandon Finley; great-grandchildren, Finley Wesson and Lorelai Finley; also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by husband, Robert Finley; son, Marcus Finley in 1968; parents, Lucian & Lettie Fox; siblings, Woodrow Fox, Edwin Fox, Mary Lou Fox Clayton, Jack Fox, Annie Fox and Lucian Nell Fox Bynum; grandchildren, Eric Williams and Jennifer Williams Wesson.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, 1:00pm at Hillcrest Church of Christ, 1712 O’Neal Street, Gainesville. Visitation will begin 12:30pm. Service will be conducted by Minister/Nephew, Stephen Bynum. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, Texas.
Mrs. Finley was the sweetest neighbor anyone could ever wish to have. I had the privilege of living next door for 2 decades. She always had the most beautiful flowers. Rest in peace sweet Janie.

I first met Mrs. Finley in the 1990s when I worked for Kings Appliance. She was always so kind and sweet. I remember talking on the phone with her about an appliance repair. Her response had me laughing. I never forgot it or her either. I know her family is so proud of the lady she was. Prayers for her family during this most difficult time.
She was a very sweet lady and I am so glad I had the privilege of knowing her.

I can only describe Mrs Finley as a sweet Christian woman. She was always an inspiration to me.
I sent her a birthday card in the last few years and she called me to thank me. She never forgot to say thank you anytime someone did something for her. She was a true lady to the very end. I was at a luncheon she attended this past November. I was so glad to see her. She still had that smile that reached into her eyes and even though I hadn’t seen her for many years she still remembered me. She was a true blessing to know
Janie was a longtime friend. Ty and I always loved visiting with her at church and whenever we saw her around town. She was a wonderful Christian and we had so much respect for her.
Janie Finley was a chair yoga student of mine at The Stanford House. This was years ago. She was a dear lady, a soft lady. I regret not seeing her for some time, but know that her dear family and friends sent her homeward with love and joy. Rest in Peace dear Janie🙏🏻
