October 3, 1922 –  January 13, 2015  Funeral Services for Janice Smith Bass of Whitesboro will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Hank Lovejoy officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the age of 92.
Mrs. Bass was born October 3, 1922 in Naples, Texas, the daughter of Zed Zay and Anna Cerelle Southworth Smith. She grew up in Naples and moved to Dallas where she worked for R.L. Dixon Brothers at the Cotton Exchange. It was there that she met her husband of 53 years, William C. (Bill) Bass whom she married on April 21, 1949. After moving to Whitesboro in 1960, Mrs. Bass was a homemaker and bookkeeper and worked with her husband at Bass Department Store. She later was employed by TemTex in Denison. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro.

She is survived by her three children, Phil Bass of South Texas, Greg Bass and Teresa Prunty Bass of Rowlett, and Cerelle Crow of Whitesboro; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her husband, William C. (Bill) Bass, her sister, Pat Pace of Dallas, and her brother, Zed Zay Smith II of Longview.
