October 26, 1929 –  August 28, 2014  PONDER – Going Home Celebration for James Smith Jenkins, 84, will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014, from 1-2 p.m., in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas. Interment will follow the services at Collinsville Cemetery. There will be no visitation services.He passed away on August 28, 2014 in Ponder, Texas.
James was born on October 26, 1929 in Pilot Point, Texas to Hugh Thomas and Cornelia Jenkins. He married Jewel King on May 15, 1952 in Gainesville, Texas. He was a retired truck driver for the Sunoco Oil Company. James was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He loved to play guitar and enjoyed writing and singing his own music. He was a carpenter and could build anything. He had a very sharp memory.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Jenkins, of Ponder; daughters: Beverly Kelly and husband, Don, of Joshua; Brenda White and husband, Allen, of Ft. Worth; Bonnie Reeves and husband, John, of Ponder; and Minnie Hennegan and husband, Rowdy, of Ponder; son, John Paul Jenkins, of Ponder; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Cornelia Jenkins; son, J. D. Jenkins; granddaughter, Beverly Greer; and grandson, Joshua Gatlin.
Pallbearers will be John Paul Jenkins, John Reeves, Rowdy Hennegan; Allen White, Michael Dodson, and Tim Robinson. http://videos.lifetributes.com/520458
