James Eldridge Arrington, 62, of Gainesville, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on December 26, 2024 in Denton, TX. James was born in Dallas, TX on October 10, 1962 to Harry & Cecile Arrington.
James set out at a young age to work hard and take care of his family; that mindset didn’t stop until it unfortunately had to. James was a heavy haul truck driver for 40 plus years and enjoyed fishing, listening to music, tinkering on long term projects in hopes to be completed, and being surrounded by family. James was known by all for his giving personality and being full of love and laughter.
He was the father of, & survived by all 6 children: Natasha & Jason Lange of Gainesville, TX, Jamye Arrington of Tioga, TX, Leah Spencer of Duncan, OK, Heath & Nasheska Arrington of Tioga, TX, Jake & Hailey Arrington of Sulphur Springs, TX, and Taylor Arrington of Leander, TX – who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Surviving grandchildren: Cloe, Hailey, Issac, Cheyenne, Justin, Quesyn, Jax, Sawyer, Taelyn, Kisler, Willow, Case, & Brynn. Surviving siblings are John & Patricia Arrington of Wichita Falls, TX, Diane Arrington of Gainesville, TX & David Arrington of OK; There are many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends that are like family left behind as well.
James is proceeded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents, sisters Vicki & Susan, and brother William.
James, also known as “Slow Ride”, will be missed by all those who knew him. He loved his family and couldn’t have been more proud of his children and grandchildren.
We love James dearly. He was always full of life and laughter. I’ll miss his fishing stories and his smile. Even tho he wasn’t my uncle by blood, he was by marriage. And now he can look down on all of us and watch us live our lives to the fullest. RIP James we will live and miss you.
I knew James when he was young working in a garage in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was always smiling. I will always remember his smile. God bless and keep his family in these difficult times.

I worked with James while he was driving a heavy haul for Bartel at LH Lacy Co. during the 80’ & 90’, he was a wonderful person that could always make you laugh and put a smile on your face , he would always extend a helping hand to anyone, my deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time, James will forever be missed.
